We are incredibly proud to announce that the Hybrid Virtual Memory Clinic officially launched at Echuca Regional Health on 7 May 2024 — marking a landmark moment for dementia care in regional Victoria. Our team travelled to the region for our very first face-to-face clinic day.
How does it work? Patients are referred to hVMC by their GP. They then attend Echuca Regional Health, where they meet with Ruth Glanville, our Local hVMC Coordinator, for their assessment. The assessment typically takes place via telehealth with a specialist based in Sydney, with limited face-to-face contact available depending on individual need and clinician availability.
Following the assessment, the clinical team comes together to discuss findings and deliver feedback to both the patient and their GP via written letters. We also provide tailored post-diagnostic support recommendations and continue to check in with patients through to discharge.
This model means that people in Echuca and surrounding areas can now access world-class specialist memory assessment — without the burden of travelling hundreds of kilometres to the city. We are so proud of what this team has built together.
