About
Memory care, closer
The Hybrid Virtual Memory Clinic was created to improve access to specialist cognitive assessment and dementia support for people in regional and rural communities.
About the clinic
The Hybrid Virtual Memory Clinic (hVMC) provides specialist cognitive assessment and care through a flexible model that combines in-person and virtual appointments. We support people experiencing memory concerns, along with their families and referrers, to access timely, evidence-based assessment and guidance.
The clinic is embedded within a research project funded by the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF). We are working to advance the early diagnosis of dementia and mild cognitive impairment in regional Australia, while improving access to post-diagnostic support through direct services and by upskilling local clinicians.
Why it matters
Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia are increasing across Australia, yet access to specialist memory clinics remains limited outside metropolitan areas. Many regional and rural communities face long wait times, reduced access to multidisciplinary expertise, and limited post-diagnostic support.
The hVMC was established to improve equitable access to specialist cognitive assessment and dementia care for people living in regional and rural Australia.
What the clinic provides
The Hybrid Virtual Memory Clinic brings together specialist clinicians to assess memory and thinking concerns, provide clear recommendations, and connect people with support after diagnosis.
This clinical service is part of a research study funded by the Medical Research Future Fund.

How it works
hVMC combines virtual specialist care with local support, bringing together the right people and services around each patient.
Our collaborators
hVMC works with health, research and dementia organisations to improve access to specialist memory services.
