In May, Occupational Therapists from the Echuca region completed training in COPE — Care of People with Dementia in their Environments — a specialised, evidence-based intervention program.
COPE is designed to support both people living with dementia and their carers within their own home environment. It focuses on identifying the person's strengths and abilities, and empowering carers with strategies to enhance quality of life and functional independence.
By building local capacity in COPE, we are ensuring that hVMC patients and their families can access meaningful, ongoing support right in their own community — not just at the time of diagnosis, but in the weeks and months that follow.
