In February 2026, we were delighted to see 20 Occupational Therapists complete training in COPE — Care of Persons with Dementia in their Environments — in preparation for the hVMC service launch in Orange.
COPE is an evidence-based intervention that supports both people living with dementia and their carers within their home environment. It focuses on identifying the person's strengths and capabilities, and equipping carers with practical strategies to enhance quality of life and independence.
Having 20 local OTs trained and ready to deliver COPE means that Orange patients and their families will have access to meaningful, ongoing post-diagnostic support right in their own community from day one. This is a fantastic foundation for the service ahead!
