End of Initial Intake Period: Reflecting on Nine Months at Echuca Regional Health

by Simone Simonetti | Mar 31, 2025 | Launch

In March 2025, we reached the end of the initial intake period at Echuca Regional Health — a moment that called for both reflection and celebration.

Over nine months, we saw 72 patients through the hVMC service. Of those triaged, 71% were seen via the virtual clinic, while 29% were directed to usual care — demonstrating that the vast majority of patients could be effectively supported through the hVMC model. Importantly, the service successfully cleared a nine-month waiting list that had existed prior to launch.

Face-to-face visits were conducted on five occasions: 7–8 May 2024, 27–28 June, 18–19 July, 14–15 November 2024, and 20 March 2025 (a follow-up visit with no new patients). These visits allowed for in-person assessments where needed, complementing the predominantly telehealth-based model.

These results speak volumes about the capacity of the hVMC model to deliver meaningful, timely care to regional communities. We are proud of everything the team has achieved.
